In the Hollow Heavens

31 Jan 2012

I took this picture a couple of days ago. It's rubbish, but in real life it was beautiful.

The moon was a tiny crescent, sharp as a knife, with Venus beneath it, just after sunset. When I first saw it from an upstairs window, the horizon was green and gold. But the window doesn't open. Well, it does, but then it doesn't shut properly.

So I got the camera and I went outside, and I couldn't see the horizon any more, and the camera wouldn't focus on the moon, so it's fuzzy.

But it reminds me how beautiful the reality was.

  1. Yeah, sometimes cameras do not do justice in capturing the scene. But I can imagine it was lovely. :)

I'll have to post some pics of desert sunsets/sunrises -- they're gorgeous!

  2. In the Hollow Heavens. What a wonderful phrase. One of yours, Lydia?

  3. :) Hi.

@defcon. Yeah, I've never managed to take a photo of the moon. But I keep trying anyway.

@Debs. Thanks. Yeah, I think it's mine. The photo was so bad I thought the title ought to make up for it!

  4. very poetic.

Congrats on your sales, and congrats for making your January W1S1! :) Isn't it great, getting the year started RIGHT?

  5. Congrats on your W1S1 success

  6. That last line is a keeper. =] And CONGRATS on reaching your January Write1Sub1 goals!

  7. Well done on getting your W1S1 goals for Jan!

I'm considering following your lead and getting me a good camera and posting pics on my blog, too. :)

  8. Hi people!
    Thanks for dropping by :)

@dmbonanno. Yeah! It's been a great start to the year!

    @Patsy. Thank you!

@ Milo. Thanks! You never know, that last line might make it into a story sometime.

@Sam. Yeah, get a camera! I want to see wild horses running on 90 Mile Beach!

  9. I do that all the time! We need someone to invent an optic nerve camera that can snap exactly what the eye sees.

Congrats on your sales & publications ('In Return' is one of my faves so far on EDF), and on making January's W1S1! That is such an awesome challenge, I've already been more productive in the first month of 2012 than the first entire half of 2011 :)

  10. Hi Michelle.

Yeah, that would be a great camera! Someone ought to make that :)

Thanks for the comment on In Return. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wouldn't have had anything published if it hadn't been for W1S1!
Such a lot of wonderful people and encouragement.
